solution to FICS timeseal problem
From time to time I experience login difficulty at FICS - Free Internet Chess Server. That is, after trying to connect using BabasChess (FICS client), this message appears:
"Timeseal: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond."
After experimenting with some settings, I came up with this solution:
1. Click File then Connect...
2. Click Advanced...
3. Put a check mark on the Use alternate server tcp port (23) then click OK.
4. Then click Connect.
